How to Style a Denim Baseball Jacket

The denim baseball jacket sits in a useful gap. It is warmer than a shirt, lighter than a parka, and less formal than a bomber - which makes it one of the few outer layers that genuinely works from March through November.

Here is how we wear ours.

1. Let the jacket be the loudest thing

Patchwork denim is already doing a lot. Raw edges, contrasting panels, script across the chest. Put it over a plain black or white tee and let it carry the outfit. If your trousers are also patterned, the whole thing turns into noise.

2. Size up, not down

Baseball jackets are meant to sit away from the body. A size up gives you the drape the cut was designed around, and leaves room for a hoodie underneath in October. Ours run true to size with a relaxed shoulder, so take your normal size for a clean fit, or one up for the oversized look.

3. Break up the denim

Double denim works, but only with contrast. A black patchwork jacket over mid-blue jeans reads deliberate. Blue over blue in the same wash reads like an accident. If you want denim head to toe, put at least two shades between the pieces.

4. Ground it with heavy footwear

The jacket has weight to it. Thin runners fight that. Boots, chunky trainers, or anything with a visible sole balances the volume up top.

5. Finish with a cap

A denim cap in the same family as the jacket ties the look together without repeating it exactly. Ours come in black and blue to match either jacket.

What to buy

Our denim baseball jackets come in black and blue, sizes S to 2XL, each panel placed by hand so no two pieces are identical. For the lighter short-sleeve version, see the denim baseball jerseys, and finish the look with a denim cap.
